Beginner Tote Bag 2.0
Come join us to learn how to sew a simple tote bag. No experience necessary. For this tote bag, we will teach you how to make your own straps, line your bag, and do topstitching. We will provide the pattern and all materials including fabric, thread, and notions. All stitching will be done on our store’s sewing machines, so you can just show up and sew. Two fabric prints available to make your tote bag out of, and those options are pictured above!

| Instructor Bio: | Carol has been sewing since she was seven years old, when she finally wore her mom down enough to be trusted with the “good” sewing machine and a pile of fabric scraps to make Cabbage Patch Kid clothes. She has been stitching ever since, steadily leveling up her skills and her love of all things thread and fabric. Sergers are permanent residents in her sewing room, and she especially enjoys working with knits to create comfortable, everyday clothes people actually want to wear. With a degree in Apparel Technology from Purdue University, she brings plenty of technical spark to match her creativity. She has been married to Ryan for over thirty years, and together they are raising nine amazing children, proving that “busy” is just another creative challenge. In August 2025, Ryan and Carol became the proud owners of Select Sewing, a beloved Indianapolis staple since 1953, and are excited to carry its legacy forward in the community. |
