Serge & Flip Baby Blanket
Create a soft, cozy baby blanket using a serger in this fun and approachable class with instructor Kathy Schouten. You will learn how to combine flannel fabrics, work with curved corners, and finish the blanket with a beautiful decorative edge stitch.
Students will use Select Sewing’s sergers for this class. You do not need to bring your own machine. This allows everyone to focus on learning the technique without worrying about setup or compatibility.
This project is perfect for anyone who wants to build confidence with a serger while making a thoughtful handmade gift. Kathy will share tips for fabric handling, serger setup, and achieving clean, professional-looking results.
Thread is included with the class fee.
Important: Fabric preparation is critical for this project. Flannel shrinks significantly, so all fabric must be washed, pressed, and cut before class. Skipping this step can result in a finished blanket that puckers or curls after washing.
Students may bring their own materials or purchase a coordinated kit during registration.

Fabric:

5/8 yard EACH of four different flannel fabrics

Fabrics must be 44/45 inches wide

Fabric must be washed, dried, and pressed before class

After washing and pressing, cut each of the four fabrics into 9-inch-wide strips
