History of Select Sewing Service
Family Owned & Operated Since 1953
Select Sewing Service was founded in downtown Indianapolis in 1953 by James W. Bennett.
Back then, many sales were done in the home by a team of outside sales representatives. Through the years, it was a family operation; Jim's brother, mother, father and wife all worked in the stores.
James Bradley Bennett, the son of the founder, started working in the store and learning sewing machines as a child. Each year, he completes numerous manufacturer's training courses that certifies him on all brands of sewing machines.
During those yearly trainings and business meetings, he met his wife Karen. She was the National Education Manager for PFAFF Sewing Machines USA and host of the PBS show, “America Quilts Creatively.”
Currently, Jim and Karen Bennett own and operate Select Sewing Service, which has been nationally recognized by manufacturers many times.
