Select Sewing Service began in downtown Indianapolis in 1953 by James W Bennett.
Back then many sales were done in the home by a team of outside Sales Representatives.
Through the years it was a family operation, Jim's brother, mother, father and wife all worked in the stores.
James Bradley Bennett, the son of the founder, started as a child working in the store and learning sewing machines. Each year he completes numerous manufacturer's training which certifies him on all brands of sewing machines.
During those yearly trainings and business meetings he met his wife Karen. She was the National Education Manager for Pfaff Sewing Machines and Host of America Quilts Creatively, PBS show.
Currently Jim and Karen Bennett own and operate Select Sewing Service, Inc. which has been nationally recognized by manufacturers many times.
Recently Select Sewing Service has been awarded:
- 5th Largest Pfaff Sewing Machine Dealer in the country - Presidents Club
- Elite Dealer Status with BabyLock
- 2nd Largest Elna Dealer in the Midwest Region
- "Best of Indianapolis - Sewing Machine Service & Repair" from the U.S. Commerce Association
